About EIN Easy Guide

Who we are, why this site exists, and how we keep it free.

Who runs this site

EIN Easy Guide is run by Reba Donaldson, an independent tax-information writer who has been simplifying IRS forms for freelancers, small business owners, and side-hustlers for over a decade.

The goal is simple: take a topic the IRS has buried in jargon and make it understandable in 5 minutes. No login. No upsell. No charging for things the IRS gives away free.

Why this site exists

Search "how to get an EIN" and the top results are paid services charging $79 to $300 for a free IRS process. The actual IRS instructions are scattered across a dozen pages and written in language that assumes you already know what you are doing.

This site is the missing middle: clear, neutral, plain-English information that points you to the actual IRS application and walks you through it screen by screen.

How we keep it free

EIN Easy Guide makes money from display ads, served by Google AdSense. The ads pay for hosting and the time it takes to keep the content current. We do not sell information. We do not charge fees. We do not run a "premium" tier.

Our editorial standards

  • Every page is reviewed annually for accuracy.
  • We cite the IRS directly when policies change.
  • We do not give individual tax advice. The site is general educational content.
  • If you spot an error, please tell us through the contact page.

Sister sites

EIN Easy Guide is part of a small portfolio of plain-English tax information sites:

What we do not do

  • We are not a law firm or an accounting firm. We do not give individualized advice.
  • We are not affiliated with the IRS. The IRS has nothing to do with this site.
  • We do not sell EINs. The IRS gives them away free at IRS.gov. So should everyone else.
